Class sizes are limited and registration is required unless otherwise stated.  Payment must accompany registration.

Refunds for classes registered through Anderson Japanese Gardens will be issued if participant cancels at least five days prior to class date.

Anderson Japanese Gardens reserves the right to cancel events in which case, a refund will be issued.

Sound Bath

Tuesdays, January 28, 2020 and March 24, 2020

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM | $25 Adult/class

A gentle and restorative immersion in the sounds of singing bowls, drums, gongs, and other instruments. Guests will “bathe” in the sound and vibration, attaining deep rest. Appropriate for all seeking stillness, relaxation, meditation, or simply a really great nap.

 

Please note: participants are asked to lie on the floor, though accommodations will be made for all needs. Please bring a mat/blanket to lie on, and a pillow/blanket as desired. Dress warmly and comfortably. Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early to get situated.

Gong Bath

Gongs have been used throughout history to signify awakening, arrivals, and important transitions. Gong baths provide a powerful sonic experience in which guests are immersed in the vibrations of these ancient instruments, creating space for a profound inward journey of meditation, exploration, and release.

Through Amanda’s encouraging guidance, participants learn a variety of yoga asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing) practices. These practices stretch and strengthen the body, build better balance, bring better focus, flexibility, clarity and calm. Each class is open to all experience levels of practice and students are encouraged to practice at their own pace. Participants should bring a yoga mat. Classes are for 60 minutes.

Pure Light Yoga

Learn a variety of poses and sequences to gain flexibility and strength in a beautiful, peaceful environment. Proper breathing and relaxation will strengthen your body, calm your mind and is essential to good health.  Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Bring water and a towel/mat.  Do not start yoga if you are pregnant.

N’Spired Yoga

This class is a gentle practice designed to increase strength and flexibility throughout the body.  As we take advantage of the beauty in the gardens, we will focus on being in the present moment, through breath and intention. If you have a desire to move with ease, while finding balance and serenity, this class will assist you on your journey. You will leave feeling refreshed, relaxed and ready for the remainder of your day.   Please bring water and a large towel or mat to class.  Drop-ins are welcome. No pre-registration is necessary.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a combination of slow, graceful exercises that enhance mental focus, relaxation and physical alignment while building leg strength, endurance and stability. Classes range from easy to moderate depending on your abilities. Sessions are led by Craig Westlund. Craig has been studying traditional Asian martial arts for years with experience in Karate, Jujutsu, Kobudo, Shuai Chiao, Sanshou, Xing yi quan, Bagua zhang, Tai Chi Chuan, and Qigong.

Bujinkan

Bujinkan is a system of martial arts that uses body movement and positioning rather than strength to defeat an opponent. Sessions are led by Shidoshi Jeff Patchin, who has trained for more than 30 years in martial arts.

Mat Pilates in the Garden

Join nationally certified pilates teacher, Frankie Larsen, PMA-CPT, for a full hour of pilates mat class under the Pavilion. Improve your core, total body strength and flexibility, and leave feeling invigorated for the rest of the day. This class is to open to ages 14 years and over, regardless of fitness experience. Please bring your own pilates/yoga mat and wear comfortable fitness apparel appropriate for outdoor temperatures.

Tranquility Walk

Enjoy the beauty of autumn’s colors while experiencing the transformative, restorative and healing powers of nature on this 1 1/2 hour silent walking/sitting/walking meditation. A “self-guide” book will be given to each participant so that they may repeat the experience on their own at any time, here or in other locations.

Dress appropriately for whatever the weather brings. Pre-registration and payment is required, as group size is limited.

Peak Sports Club BODYFLOW

Ideal for anyone and everyone, BODYFLOW is the yoga-based class that will improve your mind, your body and your life. During BODYFLOW, an inspired soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates.  Breathing control is a part of all the exercises and instructors will provide options for those just getting started. You’ll strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm, centered and happy.
