Serenity & Awareness Walks in the Garden

Awareness Walks encourage you to stop, be mindful, use your senses and journal your experiences

Guided Serenity Walks

Serenity Walks are guided mindfulness experiences that invite participants to slow down, breath deeply, and reconnect with themselves through the peaceful setting of our 12-acre Japanese Garden. Each walk follows a quiet path through the Garden with pauses at scenic locations where brief quotes and reflections are shared to inspire contemplation.

Every month features a unique theme – Such as Stillness, Awareness, Interconnectedness, Balance, Gratitude, or Healing- encouraging participants to reflect on life’s journey while gently walking through nature. The experience is unhurried and welcoming, allowing time to observe the beauty of the Garden, notice the rhythm of your breath, and embrace the present moment.

Serenity Walks conclude at the Guest House, where guests can relax and enjoy the Garde views.

Open to all, these walks offer a peaceful opportunity to reduce stress, practice mindfulness, and find renewal through the simple act of walking in nature.

Self Guided Awareness Walks

To Be Present in Nature Through the Use of Our Senses

Life is busy. People often forget to slow down and really enjoy what’s around them. Being mindful is the practice of paying attention in the moment you are in and noticing what is around you.

Through simple prompts at select stops in Anderson Japanese Gardens, Awareness Walks encourage you to stop, be mindful, use your senses and journal your experiences.

These sensory prompts are beneficial for all ages and can be done together or alone. Intergenerational connections may be forged with youths and adults through these walks by observing nature together.

The Awareness Walks booklet consists of 10 suggested stops throughout the Gardens. The stops may be done in a day or over many visits. Each time you use the booklet, you may experience something new and different.

This program booklet is available for purchase in the Gift Shop.
