Anderson Japanese Gardens will host Dr. Helen Nagata on Thursday, April 16 for the second lecture of its 2015 season. The Katsura Imperial Villa is located in the western outskirts of Kyoto and is one of the most revered Japanese imperial villas still in existence from the seventeenth century. ArtScene Locations to Host Collection for Northern Illinois Tornado Victims

In response to recent tornadoes in Northern Illinois last on Thursday night, Rockford Area Arts Council is coordinating efforts with the Salvation Army to collect items at this weekend’s Spring ArtScene. Several ArtScene locations have volunteered to be collection sites for tornado victims. First Lecture of 2015 on Thursday, March 19

Anderson Japanese Gardens will host the first lecture of the 2015 series this Thursday, March 19. Douglas Roth, publisher of Sukiya Living Magazine (The Journal of Japanese Gardening) will present focused on Japanese garden maintenance, including how to create and care for a sukiya living environment. Anderson Japanese Gardens closed its gates on the 2014 season on November 2. The Gardens re-open on May 1, 2015. Thank you to all our visitors this year. It was a great pleasure to share the beauty and tranquility of the Gardens with you. We look forward to seeing you in the Gardens next spring!

Tuesday Evening in the Gardens with Edward David Anderson

This week we welcome Edward David Anderson to the garden pavilion. Best known for his work with the Midwestern rock band Backyard Tire Fire, Anderson returns to the national stage with his solo debut, Lies & Wishes, a collection of songs that embrace vulnerability while remaining grounded in his working class roots.
