Tuesday Evening in the Gardens – 6/16

Join us for this evening’s #TuesdayEvening performance featuring local opening act, Micky Rosenquist, followed by the country-aware, rough and ragged rock’n’roll style of the Bottle Rockets. The doors open at 5:00 pm and performances start at 5:45.

June Lecture to feature local horticulturalist Jon Carlson

Join us for June’s lecture featuring two garden walks led by Jon Carlson, owner of J. Carlson Growers in Rockford. The walks will lead participants through the Garden as Carlson shares some of his favorite plants and discusses what make them thrive. Each group is limited to 20 participants. RSO Symphony Saturdays

Anderson Japanese Gardens has partnered with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra for Symphony Saturdays, a program perfect for students ages 5-10, introduces students to the various ensembles of the orchestra in a fun and interactive way. Join us this Saturday, June 13 for the first program in the series as we discuss Bodacious Brass.

Antony & the Tramps featured at tonight’s Tuesday Evening

Join us tonight for a #TuesdayEvening performance featuring Antony & the Tramps, the eclectic showmen and explosive performers of Americana and indie rock. Doors open at 5 pm and Opening Act, Daniel Wade, kicks off the evening at 5:45 pm.

Garden Explorers begins next Thursday, June 11

Join us next Thursday, June 11 for Garden Explorers, a FREE new interactive program. Garden Explorers takes place in the Pavilion every Thursday morning from June 11 through August 13 from 9-10 AM perfect for kids ages 4-6, although children of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a guardian at all times. Each week features a storytime at 9 AM read by a local prominent community member followed by an interactive presentation by a local non-profit organization. Iris In Bloom

Our iris are now in full bloom. Located in various areas of the garden, the iris are starting to finally emerge, particularly in the Pond Strolling Garden. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch this year’s bloom!

Harlan Jefferson featured at next week’s Tuesday Evening in the Gardens

Local artist Harlan Jefferson will be featured at the second Tuesday Evening in the Gardens performance on June 2. Another local favorite, The Vince Chiarelli Band, opens the evening beginning at 5:45 pm. Doors open at 5 pm and admission is free for members. First Tuesday Evening of the Season Kicks off Tonight

Despite the rain clouds that visited the Gardens earlier, Tuesday Evening in the Gardens will continue tonight. Bring your blankets, picnics and umbrellas (just in case) and join us. Veterans and Currently Serving Military Members Free on Memorial Day

As a thank you for the sacrifices our armed forces provide, veterans and currently serving military members receive free admission to the Garden on Memorial Day, May 25, during open hours. Thank you for all you do and have done for our country.

First Tuesday Evening Performance of 2015 season on May 26

The 2015 Season of Tuesday Evening in the Gardens kicks off on Tuesday, May 26. The performance features Long Shot opening for local Kelly Steward. Doors open at 5:00 pm and the Opening Act begins at 5:45 pm. Admission is free for members and for non-members adults are $5, teens are $3 and children 12 & under are free.
