Opening Day This Saturday, May 2

Anderson Japanese Gardens’ Opening Day Celebration coincides with Children’s Day in Japan. Typically held on the fifth day of the fifth month, Children’s Day is an occasion to respect children’s personalities and to celebrate their happiness. The Opening Day Celebration allows visitors to experience a part of Japanese culture through child and family-centered activities. This year’s celebration is Saturday, May 2 from 10 am-3 pm. Activities are included with the cost of regular admission.

2015 Season Begins Friday, May 1

Anderson Japanese Gardens begins a new season on Friday, May 1 beginning at 9 am. Admission is free for Anderson Japanese Gardens members and for non-members the cost is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for students. Children 5 and under are free. On Saturday, May 2, Anderson Japanese Gardens hosts their Opening Day Celebration. 2015 Tuesday Evening in the Gardens Schedule Announced

The performance schedule for Tuesday Evening in the Gardens for the 2015 season has been released. Join friends and family for a summertime music series in the picturesque setting of Anderson Japanese Gardens. Admission is free for members. Fresco at the Gardens

Anderson Japanese Gardens is pleased to announce a partnership with Franchesco’s Ristorante to bring a new restaurant, Fresco at the Gardens, to the Gardens. The restaurant is set to open in June and will be located in Anderson Japanese Gardens’ Visitor Center. It will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., serving breakfast and lunch. Hanami Chakai – Flower Viewing Tea Ceremony

Join us for  Hanami Chakai events the weekend of Saturday, April 25 & Sunday, April 26. Hanami Chakai is  a traditional Japanese Flower Viewing Tea Ceremony. Lecture on Thursday, April 16

Anderson Japanese Gardens will host Dr. Helen Nagata on Thursday, April 16 for the second lecture of its 2015 season. The Katsura Imperial Villa is located in the western outskirts of Kyoto and is one of the most revered Japanese imperial villas still in existence from the seventeenth century. Dr. Nagata’s discussion will illuminate the garden’s design and architectural structures. ArtScene Locations to Host Collection for Northern Illinois Tornado Victims

In response to recent tornadoes in Northern Illinois last on Thursday night, Rockford Area Arts Council is coordinating efforts with the Salvation Army to collect items at this weekend’s Spring ArtScene. Several ArtScene locations have volunteered to be collection sites for tornado victims.
